Blu-ray Releases Of Interest For 7/21/15

Every week Scream Blu Fans! will be showcasing the Blu-ray releases of the week that interest us and we think will interest you. Check out this weeks releases of interest below:

For the release date of 7/21/15 there was six Blu-ray of interest released. One from Scream Factory, one from Arrow Video, one from Warner Archive, one from Kino Lorber, and two from Kino Lorber Studio Classics. Here they are:

The first release of interest for this week is the only one put out by Scream Factory today and that is I, Madman. This film sounds like a very intriguing horror thriller that is about a killer in a book that has come to life and now seeks the love of the woman who read the book. The killer seems to show his devotion to her by continually committing acts of murder. Overall this films seems to be a very imaginative horror thriller that will likely appeal to a lot of horror fans.

The second release of interest this week comes from Arrow Video and it is Cemetery Without Crosses. The film follows a gunslinger who is tasked by his former fiance to kidnap the daughter of a rival family. The reason for kidnap is for the former fiance to get revenge on the rival family that had recently lynched a member of her family. In the end this looks like a solid Spaghetti Western that will likely appeal to all fans of that genre.

Showdown in Little Tokyo come out from Warner Archive and is the third release of interest for this week. This cheesy action flick was directed by Mark L. Lester, who also directed Class of 1984. This film stars Dolph Lundgren and Brandon Lee as two cops in Los Angeles that have to stop the Japanese mob as the start to make a play to gain more power. This looks to be like a typical buddy/partner action film but with top of the line action stars this is probably a notch above the average. Overall this film is likely to appeal to anyone who love a good, cheesy, and mindless action film.

The next release of interest put out this week by Kino Lorber is Black Sabbath. This classic anthology horror film was directed by Mario Bava and is supposedly his personal favorite of all of his films. This anthology has three segments. One is about a woman who continually receives menacing phone calls from a former lover. Another segment is about a vampire hunter whose family is being stalked by an undead ghoul. The last segment is about a nurse who steals a ring from a corpse but soon finds out that the ring carries a curse. It should be noted that this release is the AIP english language version of the film. Overall this sounds like a very solid anthology horror film with some interesting segments. This film should appeal to anyone who likes or appreciates these older types of horror films, as well as anthologies in general.

The first of two releases of interest put out today by Kino Lorber Studio Classics is Madhouse. This film stars Vincent Price, Peter Cushing, and Robert Quarry in a story about a horror film star whose wife is killed which results in him losing jobs and his mind. Twelve years later the washed up horror legend agrees to to a tv series based on Dr. Death, a creation from the past made by the actor. Now cast and crew are starting to die in the same ways as people did in the horror legend's only films. This sounds like a very interesting plot and should be worth seeing for the actors involved alone.

The second release of interest from Kino Lorber Studio Classics is also the last release of interest for this week. The title is House of 1000 Dolls. This sleazy thriller stars Vincent Price as a professional illusionist who, along with his wife, abduct unsuspecting women by using their magic tricks and then they give the women to an international ring of white slave traders. A couple gets drawn into this plot as their friend has been kidnapped by the ring and now the couple only has a few days to find her before she is gone forever. In the end this film sounds like it has some potential for being an interesting thriller but might get caught up in sleezy-ness.
