Favorite Blu-ray Releases Of 2015

Check out our favorite Blu-ray releases of 2015 below!

Another solid year of Blu-ray releases. Here are some of our favorites, in no particular order. As well we limited to one release per company:

The Beyond - Grindhouse Releasing

Another great and extensive release from Grindhouse releasing. This is a great and rather definitive release of the Lucio Fulci classic The Beyond. This two Blu-ray set comes filled with bonus features and also includes the CD soundtrack. A very easy choice for one of our favorite releases of the year.

Available for purchase here: The Beyond

Blood Rage - Arrow Video

Arrow Video released a ton of great Blu-rays this year which makes it difficult to choose just one. The boxset releases of Black Cats and Battles Without Honor and Humanity are great but Blood Rage will likely be the most revisited release out of the three. This fun and bloody slasher follows the story of twin brother. One is a psychotic killer and the other is a quiet person who just wants his mothers love. The wrong one is in the mental institution and you can surmise what happens next. It's an amazing release that leaves no stones unturned. It features multiple versions of the film as well as tons of other great special features. The film is a ton of slasher fun.

Available for purchase here: Blood Rage

She Killed In Ecstasy - Severin Films

2015 has been a good year for Severin films with several great Blu-ray releases. The best of the bunch has to be She Killed In Ecstasy, a film about a women who seeks revenge on the people that led her over to suicide. An awesome film with great packaging. One of Franco's best that is both distinctly Franco but very accessible at the same time. Just an outright good film. This release comes with some solid bonus features plus a CD soundtrack.

Available for purchase here: She Killed In Ecstasy

Army Of Darkness - Scream Factory

With multiple different cuts and tons of special features Army Of Darkness is an awesome release that is a culmination of another great year from Scream Factory. Despite the initial problems with some of the discs, Scream Factory quickly addressed the problem. Overall a great release that has just about everything a fan can ask for a cult classic like this.

Available for purchase here: Army Of Darkness

The Fan - Mondo Macabro

The Fan is one of those great films that leaves you wondering why it is not more popular. The film features a great soundtrack that enhances a thrilling and suspenseful story of teenage obsession. Not too much in the way of special features but this release does contain an interview with the writer/director. A film definitely worth seeing and owning.

Available for purchase here: The Fan

Miracle Mile - Kino Lorber Studio Classics

Like The Fan, Miracle Mile is another film that makes you wonder why it is not more popular or talked about. Miracle Mile is a difficult film to describe but I guess you could say that it follows love at the end of the world. The film features a great soundtrack a quite a bit of special features, for more than is common with Kino Lorber Studio Classics releases. A great film that is highly recommended viewing.

Available for purchase here: Miracle Mile

God Told Me To - Blue Underground

Blue Underground had a solid year with several quality Blu-ray releases. The best of their releases is definitely God Told Me To. A classic gritty 70's New York flick that follows a trail of out of the ordinary criminal acts with the perpetrator always claiming "God told me to." A fascinating story with  interesting characters and a unique ending. The release has a quality bunch of special features. In the end a very solid release of a fun and interesting film.

Available for purchase here: God Told Me To

Don't Look Now - Criterion Collection

Another solid year from Criterion as usual. This year's most interesting, and our favorite release from them, is Don't Look Now. While it is likely that the film will have slightly less impact now than during its original release, Don't Look Now still has an intriguing mystery and a shocking ending. A great presentation from Criterion as is the norm for the majority of their releases.

Available for purchase here: Don't Look Now

Sweet Sixteen - Code Red

Although this film would never be called a great film, Sweet Sixteen is a fun slasher that contains some entertaining and unique elements that makes it a fun watch. It is very much of its time in just about every way. Also has a theme song that can get stuck in your head. It is quality release from Code Red and stands as a good example of the type of films Code Red puts out, fun, sleazy, and entertaining.

Available for purchase here: Sweet Sixteen

Angst - Cult Epics

Angst is an under appreciated classic and exemplary film in the home invasion genre. A film about a crazed killer's planning and execution of breaking into a random home and killing the occupants, except things don't go according to plan. Far more psychological of a film than one would expect with a plot like this. This great release from Cult Epics comes loaded with special features plus a 40 page booklet. An overall great release that can easily compete with the top releases of the bigger companies.
