Every week Scream Blu Fans! showcases the Blu-ray releases of the week that interest us and that will think will interest you. Check out this weeks releases of interest below:

For the release week of 9/1 there was 4 releases of interest. Three from Scream Factory and one from Anchor Bay. Here they are:

The first Blu-ray release of interest for this week is also the first of three Scream Factory titles to make the list and the film is Backcountry. The film is based on a true story about a couple camping in the Canadian wilderness who soon cross into bear country, where the terror goes up a notch as the couple fights for their survival. Overall the film sounds like a pretty cool survival in the wilderness film mixed in with an animal attacks film. The film has been getting some positive buzz and might be worth checking out.

The second of three Scream Factory titles on this list is The Harvest. The film is directed by John McNaughton, who also directed Henry: Portrait of a Serial Killer. The story follows a girl who was recently orphaned and has no moved in with her grandparents. The girl sets out to become friends with a deathly ill and bed-ridden boy, despite the boy's mothers disapproval. As the girl secretly sees the boy she discovers some sinister going-ons in the boys house. In the end it sounds like a solid story with some good acting that is probably worth checking out.

The final release of interest from Scream Factory this week is Army of Frankensteins. The film sounds like a goofy over the top film that is a mix of horror and sci-fi set in a historical setting. The story of the film follows a man who is beaten to within an inch of his life and then taken the the lab of a crazy scientist who makes him a subject to terrible experiments as part of the doctor's plan to reanimate the Frankenstein monster. The experiments eventually lead to a tear in space and time that pulls a bunch of Frankensteins from parallel universes to one place, 19th century civil war era America. Overall sounds like a goofy movie that will not appeal to everyone. If you enjoy very over the top films then you might get some enjoyment out of this one.

The last release of interest for this week is Lost After Dark. The films is another modern throwback to the 80's horror films. The story of this film is group of kids skip out on their school dance to have some unsupervised fun. Along the way they car runs out of gas on a deserted road and the group goes to a rundown farmhouse nearby, looking for help. Instead of help their find a cannibalistic killer from an urban legend and after one of the kids in the group gets murdered, hoping for help becomes hoping to survive. Overall sounds like it could be a decent film depending on how they set about recreating the 80's time period that the film is set in. If done well and not too camp or cheesy, this film could be a pretty solid throwback slasher.
