Scream Factory & Other Blu-ray News + Tidbits 11/19/14 - 11/29/14

This last week was Thanksgiving so it is no surprise that there has not been much news from Scream Factory or other companies. However, there has been a couple different news items recently. One title to be released by Scream Factory has had its release date delayed. The special features have been announced for a couple titles to be released next year. Here is all the details on those items and other news:

News:

Scream Factory has announced the special features on their Blu-ray release of Supernova. It is scheduled to be released 1/13/15 . Check out the full details Here.

Scream Factory has announced the delay of the release of their Phantom of the Opera Blu-ray. The film starring Robert Englund will now be released on 2/17/15 instead of 1/13/15. As well, expect an announcement of the special features, which they say their will be a good amount of, in early December.

Check out my reviews for the recently released Monkey Shines Here and The Dark Half Here.

Grindhouse Releasing has revealed the full specs for their The Beyond blu-ray release. Check out all of the details Here.

Tidbits:

-Scream Factory listed their top ten selling releases by the number of units sold. They are the following (in no particular order):

1. Cockneys Vs. Zombies
2. Day of the Dead
3. They Live
4. Dead Souls
5. Halloween II
6. Lifeforce
7. The Fog
8. Halloween III
9. Prince of Darkness
10. The Howling

It is interesting to see that their are two newer made titles in the top ten, number 1 and 4. I guess those newer made titles put out by Scream Factory are worth keeping around considering how well they sell despite some fans dislike of the newer made titles.

-Answers to some fans title requests:

  • No plans from Scream Factory to release The Last House On The Left any time soon.
  • Scream Factory cannot get the rights to Alice, Sweet Alice.
  • Scream Factory does not have the rights at this time for Edge Of Sanity.
  • No release of John Carpenter's The Thing from Scream Factory.
