Scream Factory Announces Two Blu-ray Double Feature Releases For July

Today Scream Factory began the Friday the 13th celebration by announcing the release of two Blu-ray Double Features for July. The double features are The Outing / The Godsend and Cellar Dweller / Catacombs. Both Double Features are scheduled to be released July 14. You may recognize these films from Scream Factory's previous All-Night Movie Marathon budget DVD releases back inn 2013. A lot of fans have been asking for these films to be released on Blu-ray but Scream Factory has been unable to release them until now mostly because of the cost of new transfers. Now Scream Factory has done new HD Widescreen transfers for all of the films! As for extras, there will be now new extras because all costs have went to the new transfers. Also the runtimes for these films will be the same as the DVD releases.

Scream Factory states that if this releases do well then perhaps more like them will follow. I assume this to mean that more previous DVD only releases could see Blu-ray upgrades if these sell well.

What do you think of this announcement? Will you pick up either of these releases?

First Time Watching: Slaughterhouse

It appears that it is currently the high time for horror/cult/exploitation Blu-ray releases. Thanks to all of the great independent Blu-ray labels that release a bunch of old classics, hidden gems, and under appreciated films every month. It should be no surprise a lot of people outside of the older hardcore fan have not have seen all of these films. I know I haven't. For me, and I am sure many others, the majority of these type of Blu-rays that I purchase are blind buys.  Instead of doing a traditional and often repetitive Blu-ray review, something that dozens of other sites already cover, I am going to try something a little different and fun. For films that I am watching for the first time I am going to give my initial impression of the films as I see them for the first time. As well, I will give my quick thoughts of the presentation and extras for the release.

So let's try this out. First up is Slaughterhouse:
